I call the mind the Dramatizer. The longer you stay in mind streams, the more the Dramatizer allows your outlook to magnify, warp, and lie to you. This causes fear and stress.
A way to move past stress is to heighten your senses! When you intentionally activate your senses by noticing what you see, hear, smell, taste, or touch everything changes. You will slow the mind down. Sensing heightens awareness, connecting you with the real picture.
The next time you’re feeling stressed look up at the sky, smell the fresh air, taste that bite of food you’re eating, feel the tabletop beneath your fingertips. Connect with your senses. Bring yourself back to now and slow the mind down.
